Members being educated about Robert Owen and the Co-operative Movement
Members from all the Membership & Community Councils visited the Birthplace of Robert Owen in Newtown, Mid Wales. Robert Owen was a true visionary and a pioneer of socialism and inspired the co-operative and trade union movements. Council members gain hands on experience to enable them to have a better understanding of the co-operative movement and gives them the confidence to talk about the history and the reason why co-operatives are more than a shop. The doors behind the shop offer an incredible history of co-operative education of how communities and people can make a real difference.
