OurCoop shortlisted for Inclusion in Awards 2026

We're thrilled to share that OurCoop has been shortlisted at the 2026 InclusionIn Awards in the Most Impactful Employee Resource Group in Retail category for our Ability colleague network.

The InclusionIn Awards recognise organisations, teams and individuals that are making a real difference to inclusion across the hospitality, travel, leisure and retail sectors. They celebrate the work that doesn't always make headlines, but changes lives by creating workplaces where everyone can feel valued, supported and able to thrive.

Our Ability network has been recognised for the positive impact it has made in championing disability inclusion across OurCoop.

Launched in 2024 following feedback from colleagues, Ability was created to ensure disabled colleagues and those with lived experience could help shape a more accessible and inclusive workplace. Since then, the network has grown into a community of colleagues from across the Society, working together to improve accessibility, influence policies and raise awareness of disability and neurodiversity.

Through colleague storytelling, awareness campaigns and practical initiatives, Ability has helped create more open conversations around disability while driving meaningful organisational change. The network has led activities for Purple Tuesday, introduced British Sign Language workshops and sensory awareness experiences, and worked with organisations including the Business Disability Forum, Shaw Trust and Guide Dogs UK to improve understanding and accessibility across the Society.

Ability has also helped make recruitment more inclusive by reviewing interview questions and language to better support neurodiverse applicants, while co-creating a Disability Awareness e-learning module that has educated colleagues on inclusive behaviours and accessibility.

Being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the dedication, passion and lived experience of everyone involved in Ability. Their commitment continues to make OurCoop a more inclusive place to work, ensuring every colleague feels they belong and can succeed.
