A morning of learning
We had a lovely visit to the Retired Volunteers Group at the Shuttlewood-Clark Foundation at Ulverscroft Manor this morning. We combined the visit with a talk on co-op history before delivering our healthy choices workshop. It was lovely to hear some of their co-op stories with one gentleman sharing that he "started his working life as a Saturday delivery boy with Bristol Co-op and worked up the ranks to the position of buyer before retiring". There were also lots of stories of how important the dividend was in times of hardship, and of course, most remembered their mum's dividend number!
The healthy choices workshop covers what counts as part of your five a day, portion sizes and understanding food labelling, finishing with some delicious fruit kebabs. Everyone agreed that they had all learned something new and has enjoyed our session.
