Mind Your Money Game Gets The Thumbs Up!
Our new Co-operative "Mind Your Money" board game received the thumbs up from a group of young people with learning disabilities. The group is supported by Leicester City in the Community and as part of their programme we offer a range of educational workshops in support of our partnership.
Today the young people, along with our MCC member, Georgi, and I discussed the importance of managing your finances and what to expect in your take-home pay when you start work. Before playing the game, we talked about the challenges being faced, especially now with the cost of living crisis, and how it is affecting people's mental health and wellbeing.
The game covers scenario's and discussion cards on all aspects of bills we need to pay, as well as some that we don't expect and have not budgeted for. Although a serious subject, the young people loved the game and said it was fun to play and that they learnt a lot about the importance of budgeting.
