How playing the chocolate trade game gives students a greater understanding of how fairtrade works

Students from Derby Grammar enjoyed playing the Chocolate Trade Game and being the different players in the supply chain.  From fairtrade growers, independent cocoa farmers to manufacturers, supermarkets and shoppers.  The students gained a greater understanding of the pressures all roles have in supplying us all with chocolate.  It highlighted how producers and the supply chains need to adapt to either keep up with demand or diversification into other areas.  The students also enjoyed some mindfulness chocolate tasting and designing work to celebrate 25 years of fairtrade, so we look forward to seeing their completed work.  The students also had time to visit their local Co-op store in Littleover to undertake the Ethical Challenge.  So a fantastic few days.
