School children from Hasland School took advantage of the Healthy Choices workshop. Students were able to learn about healthy eating, 5 a day, portion sizes and labelling. They were able to look at the packaging and identify the traffic light system and understand how ingredients are measured. The session were concluded with the making of fruit kebabs, which is always exciting and it is wonderful to see children trying different types of fruits from grapefruit, kiwi, grapes, melon and blueberries. It is surprising how many children say they do not eat much fruit but this is a great way to give them a try and encourage them to eat more healthily.
