Central Co-op supports Lichfield at their Community Games

Our summer of supporting young people through sport and healthy eating came to a close this weekend in Lichfield with us attending the Lichfield Community Games. as an ever present supporter of the Lichfield Community Games, we know how important it is to link sport and healthy eating to a healthy mindset and body development to young people.

During the two days we had plenty of activity for the young people attending to take part in, while learning about the importance of a healthy diet, and giving away free fruit to help back this message up. We had our Healthy Eatwell Guide puzzle, a catch and throw game with different balls and beanbags to throw, and we also included quick cricket games.

With the Eatwell Guide Puzzle proving very popular again, this year we introduced different activity in 'Throw and Catch' and quick cricket games. The throw and catch was very popular with the younger kids, as the aim was to get further away from each other with each throw using one of the balls and/or beanbags. we had many generations taking part from young to older kids, the older kids seemed to really enjoy the activity!

Along with the smaller kids, the big kids especially enjoyed the cricket games we played. It was great to see young people who had never tried playing cricket before have a go in a fun friendly environment. The bigger kids who came along to the games really seemed to enjoy the cricket!!

A great weekend with lots of young people enjoying sporting activity while learning about healthy eating.
