Board Directors play their part at Co-op Party Midlands Regional Conference

Board Directors Tanya Noon, Paul Singh and Maria Lee attended the Co-operative Party Midlands Regional Conference, in Leicester, on 1 June.

The theme was 'Co-operatives Unleashed' and how to double the size of the Co-op Economy.  There were also policy debates on climate change, energy and the environment, community, place and power and food justice.

Tanya Noon took to the stage to speak about the community work undertaken by Central England Co-operative and how the consumer sector was dealing with promoting the model of business and engaging with younger generations to highlight the issues around co-operative development.  

She also discussed the Society’s relationships with food banks and FareShare.  Tim Atkin, from Action Homeless in Leicester, spoke at the event about food justice, the relationship Action Homeless has with Central England Co-operative and looking at future solutions around poverty.
