A weekend of celebration brings Co-op Fortnight to a close

During the last weekend of Co-op Fortnight we held events within the community that celebrated all things Central Co-op in the Community.

On Saturday 1 July we attended CoCOMAD, a music and Dance festival in Cotteridge, Birmingham and The Burton Community Games in East Staffordshire.

CoCOMAD, once again proved popular with the community coming out and having fun. We attended with free fruit and goodies to give away, while talking to the public attending about the great work we do within the community around membership and Central Co-op education workshops.

At the same time, we were in Burton for inaugural Community Games in the Town. We supported Inspire Activity, the provider of the Community Games to put on a day of fun activity designed to introduce healthy fitness activity to young people and their families. We attended by giving away free healthy fruit while talking about the importance of a healthy diet through our Healthy Choices Workshop games. The people attending thoroughly enjoyed their time taking part.

On Sunday 2 July we attended the Aldridge Transport Museum, for a Special Members Day.

The transport museum has Central Co-op Heritage vehicles on display, and to celebrate Co-op Fortnight, Co-op members were able to access the museum free of charge to see our vehicles and the other exhibits they have on display.

We spoke to members of the public about Central Co-op membership and community work, and our Birmingham History Member Group created a historical picture display of Co-op Transport through the ages.
