Popular TV weatherman Des Coleman was the guest of honour at a special event designed to raise awareness around the challenges that men face in the modern world.

Central England Co-op took over Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium for the day to host a range of talks and workshops around subjects including mental health, physical health and lifestyle.

Des took time out from telling people across the area about the weather to talk about his career and the importance of discussing the topics raised at the event.

James Knight, Member and Community Relations Officer for Central England Co-op and one of the organisers, said: “I am so proud to have been involved in a great event designed to highlight topics ranging from mental health to lifestyle.

“This event allowed like-minded men from all walks of life to come together to debate, discuss and learn how we can support one another.

“Events like these are important and allow everyone involved to use their voices to talk about their successes as well as the challenges they face.”

Over 100 people attended the event on what was International Men’s Day.
