Stores visited included: Shaw in Oldham, Warsop, Hatton, Renishaw, Ripley, Castle Donington, Langley Park, Eckington, Beeston, Carlton in Lindrick, Hucknall, Westdale Drive, Littleover, Armthorpe and Somercotes funeral home.
The Northern and Yorkshire Membership & Community Councils have supported the stores over the last few months to help and assist with membership recruitment and answered many queries. This was supported with the delicious tastings of the award winning mince pies and crisps along with a complimentary Malawi coffee and tea bags to take home. It was great talking about the benefits of the Malawi products and how they support co-operative development in Malawi.
Colleagues in the stores were very supportive and we enjoyed our time supporting them and talking to members and customers about the benefits of belonging to Central Co-op and the wider co-operative movement. To be able to discuss the differences in co-operatives and the benefits of belonging to a member owned organisation and the communities that that we support.
It was great engaging with those who shop on a regular basis and answering their queries, which i know they thoroughly enjoyed.
We also supported a number of local community events from the funeral team's festive event in Somercotes, visiting the local foodbank in Shaw, Christmas carols by the Chesterfield Choral Society to supporting the Eckington store with their event with the local school with tastings and carols.
