Supporting our Members and Communities

As we head into another year, the Southern MCC remain committed to the financial support they give to both our member groups and students who attend our recreational courses. We have a number of member groups from Bands and Choirs to Friendship & Pop in Cafes and support ACE1 Drama and Tribe, which are both groups for the young, with the latter which is a group for young people with mental health and disability challenges. Our educational and recreational courses range from Keep Fit and Yoga to Calligraphy, Embroidery, Flower arranging and Watercolour painting and Photography, so something for everyone.

Member participation is an important part of being a member of a Co-op and it is even in our rule book, so we want to encourage our members to join in, and we know how vital that feeling of belonging and connection is to our mental health and wellbeing.

During January, I have managed to get around to a few of our groups and see and hear first-hand how our groups benefit our members, especially those living alone. It was lovely to hear that through making friends in the various group, coffee dates and meals, days outs and even holidays are arranged and new friendships continue to flourish.
