Southern MCC Out and About Promoting Fairtrade

Southern MCC Out and About Promoting Fairtrade

Fairtrade Fortnight this year takes place from 22nd September - 4th October 2025 and the theme for this year is "Do it Fair". In addition to our offers in store, the Southern Membership & Community Council have been out and about promoting the importance of buying Fairtrade and how the Fairtrade Premium helps farmers and producers in the developing world. We have also taken the opportunity to promote our Malawi partnership.

So what have we been up to? - we have held Fairtrade assemblies in schools, presented a Fairtrade talk at the Green Space in Braunstone and held a Fairtrade Quiz with volunteers and members of our Society's LGBTQ+ Networking Group, who were supporting the Green Space with a volunteering day.

We took the opportunity to promote both our new APP and Fairtrade as part of Fresher's week at our Clarendon Park Road Store, which is an area heavily populated with students.

We also held Fairtrade Wine and Chocolate tastings in our Insomnia Cafe in Blaby which was enjoyed by customers and it was a great opportunity to talk about how the Co-op supports Fairtrade and who in fact was the first retailer to introduce Fairtrade products into supermakets - something that we very proud of.
