OurCoop shortlisted for prestigious global sustainability award
We're thrilled to share that OurCoop has been shortlisted for Transformation Project of the Year at the 2026 Global Sustainability Awards!
The awards celebrate organisations that are leading the way in sustainability through innovation, leadership and measurable impact, recognising projects that are creating meaningful, lasting change.
OurCoop has been shortlisted for its green energy transformation project, which demonstrates how co-operation can help tackle climate change while delivering benefits for members, communities and the environment.
Since coming together as OurCoop, we've continued to build on the environmental commitments of our founding societies, investing in renewable energy and finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Today, more than 130 of our sites generate renewable electricity through solar panels, while innovative partnerships are helping to bring even more green energy into our operations.
But our ambition goes beyond reducing our own emissions.
Through our joint venture, Younity, we're helping community energy projects across the UK grow and thrive by supporting local organisations to generate and share their own renewable electricity. That means communities can benefit directly from cleaner, locally generated energy while helping to build a more sustainable future for everyone.
This recognition reflects the positive impact that can be achieved when co-operatives work together. From generating renewable electricity and improving energy efficiency across our estate to supporting community-owned energy projects, our approach is helping to create lasting environmental and social benefits.
Being shortlisted is a wonderful achievement and a testament to the dedication of colleagues, partners and communities who have helped make this transformation possible.
The winners will be announced on 8th September 2026. Whatever the result, we're incredibly proud that OurCoop's commitment to building a greener future has been recognised on the global stage.
