Magic and much, much more as charity community fun day comes to Ripley

Central England Co-op’s Ripley Supermarket will be hosting a free community fun day for all the family next week with a magic show and face painting among the entertainment on offer.

The event will help raise money for Dementia UK, as well as offering a range of fun activities for all ages, as colleagues at the Derby Road supermarket open their doors to the local community.

Among the attractions will be a ‘Happy Wacky Magic Show’, face painting, colouring competition, food and drink tastings, health checks and the chance to win a luxury hamper in a charity raffle.

Store colleagues will also be joined by colleagues from Central England Co-op Funeralcare who will be promoting their services and offering advice and guidance.

The community fun day takes place on Tuesday, 3 September from 10am and 2pm at the Derby Road supermarket and entry is free.

Nathan Burrows, Store Manager, said he and his colleagues were looking forward to putting on a fun day for local families.

He said: “Here at Derby Road supermarket we are proud to be part of a fantastic community in Ripley and are delighted to have this opportunity to put on a fun day for all ages, particularly to provide a bit of a late summer holiday treat before children head back to school.

“As a store we also welcome any opportunity to support Dementia UK which does such wonderful work for families affected by dementia and we aim to raise as much money as we can through this event.

“I hope as many locals as possible come down and enjoy the day and I look forward to seeing customers old and new having a great time for a great cause.”

Central England Co-operative has been supporting Dementia UK since 2017 and so far, the Society has donated over £1 million to the charity. The money has been used to help pay for specialist Admiral Nurses, additional vital training and the on-going staffing of the free Dementia Helpline (0800 888 6678).
