Desford Village residents enjoy a "Get to Know Your New Co-op" event.

Ahead of the opening of our brand new store in Desford Village, Retail and the Southern Membership & Community Council came together to provide an information evening for residents in the village.

Thanks to the local community library, who opened its doors for us on Friday 30th January in the evening, around 50 local people came to find out more about their new Co-op, enjoyed a tour of the new store, asked lots of great questions and met their new Store Manager, Paul.

I took the opportunity to give a snapshot our history, why our values and principles are so important to us and how we have supported activities in Desford and continue to do so.

Gavin Glidewell, Area Manager, explained our recent merger and how we have added to our family of businesses and the scale of our trading area. Residents were excited to have a guided tour of the new store and gave lots of positive feedback on the look and feel.

We look forward to supporting the opening of our brand new store on Thursday 12th February 2026 where we will be on hand to help and support new members wanting to access our Membership App so that they can enjoy the benefits of membership too.
