Derbyshire funeral colleagues help to improve local environment

Colleagues at our Allenton Funeral Home have adopted floral planters outside the premises on Osmaston Road to improve the environment and bring some cheer to the community.

At the invitation of Derby City Council, colleagues volunteered to take on the filling and upkeep of the planters, which also carry information about Funeral Plan services.

To launch and support the initiative, colleagues also took part in a litter pick alongside other community members on 22 October to help tidy up around the shopping precinct. The event was organised by Derby City Council to support the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.

Paul Howarth, Funeral Director at The Co-operative Funeralcare, Allenton said “Making a real difference in our communities is part of what Central England Co-operative colleagues do day-to-day, including looking after our environment. Colleagues at our funeral home in Osmaston Road are delighted to improve and help maintain the appearance of the shopping area in Allenton.

"We will continue to be responsible for filling the planters with attractive plants and helping to keep the area vibrant and neat.”
