Colleagues volunteering at the Birmingham International Tattoo

Last weekend saw colleagues from our funeral homes in Birmingham and myself volunteer at the Birmingham International Tattoo for a wonderful charity cause The Royal Star and Garter.

"Royal Star & Garter provides award-winning care for veterans and their partners who live with disability or dementia, in state-of-the-art Homes. The charity was founded in 1916 to care for the severely injured young men returning from the battlegrounds of the First World War. Today, we provide specialist nursing, dementia and therapeutic care, together with a varied and engaging programme of activities, which enable residents to remain independent and enjoy life".

Amanda, Kara, Wendy, Emma, and myself alongside a team of volunteers supported the charity on the second day of the event with fundraising activity. We helped with the creation of the awareness stand, selling event programmes (each one sold raised £1 for the charity) and bucket collections at the end of the performance.

During the performance we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to watch parts of the Tattoo in the main arena. Some mazing performances from members and veterans of our armed forces took place.

A wonderful day supporting the Charity to help raise funds that helps ensure that the work they do continues to support the vulnerable veterans and their families.
