A Busy Summer for the Southern Membership & Community Council
Summer provides us with a great opportunity to get out and about and with plenty of sunshine this year we have had enjoyed the opportunity of being out in the fresh air for most of our events.
Over the summer months we have supported Holiday and Fun activities at St Matthews Big Local, a Football Camp in Church Langton and the SPLAT Club in Corby where we have delivered our workshops and provided help and support as volunteers by helping to feed children during the school holidays, We also managed the BBQ for St Mathews Big Local at their annual Parks Day.
We have also supported two Play Day events organised by North Northants Council in Corby and Kettering by providing free fruit and games for children.
We held a number of free bike maintenance events in hard pressed communities in Grange Place in Kettering,Cropston Drive in Coalville, and Hallam Crescent and Aikman Avenue stores in Leicester.
We have also organised two Pride events in Ashby de la Zouch and Oakham with a focus on smaller low budget and newer events, which was also supported by colleagues from across the Society.
New MCC members visited the Rochdale Pioneers Museum for their first time, home of co-operation, and took part in a learning event to support them on their journey as an MCC member.
We visited the Woodcraft Folk International Camp held in Kelmarsh Hall, close to our Market Harborough Store, with thanks to the Society for providing and delivering large orders of cereal and milk and other products to keep the camp well provisioned.
