Fairtrade Support for Thrapston

This week we held a Fairtrade Stall at the open meeting of the Thrapston Town Council to promote the Co-op's commitment to Fairtrade. The Town are applying for Fairtrade status and have to achieve some goals set out by the Fairtrade Foundation to become a Fairtrade Town. This event was the start of the journey to raise awareness of Fairtrade and to inform members of the community on how they can help the town to achieve this status.

The Co-op is the biggest convenience retailer of Fairtrade and we were happy to share lots of information and samples to support in helping to raise awareness. We also took the opportunity to talk about the variety of Fairtrade items available in our stores, and to promote a Membership APP.

Later in the year, we will supporting with educating young people about Fairtrade by delivering our Fairtrade workshops in schools in the town, which we very much look forward to.

We are delighted to be supporting Thrapston in their journey to achieve Fairtrade Town Status.
